{"id":1220,"date":"2016-09-10T16:26:47","date_gmt":"2016-09-10T14:26:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.e-spectations.com\/swimming\/?p=1220"},"modified":"2016-09-10T16:26:47","modified_gmt":"2016-09-10T14:26:47","slug":"kzn-beavers-winter-champs-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/e-spectations.com\/swimming\/2016\/09\/10\/kzn-beavers-winter-champs-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"KZN Beavers Winter champs September 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">KZN Beavers Winter Champs 2016<\/h2>\n<p>KZN Beavers winter champs 2016 took place from 2-4 September. \u00a0Every swimming club host an <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmersden.com\/KZN%20Swimming%20Calendar.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">annual swimming championship<\/a><\/span>, raising funds for the club giving swimmers an opportunity to swim and log pre-season database times.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>400 m Freestyle &#8211; a first<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The 2016 KZN Beavers winter champs allowed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.e-spectations.com\/swimming\/swimmer\/\">Monica<\/a> to swim her first 400 m Freestyle. \u00a0As parents, we are always nervous with the first-time-swim as so much can go wrong and Monica is still young.<\/p>\n<p>Monica never disappoints. \u00a0We expect a 6- minute swim on the 400 m and she delivers a 5:38:56 placing second in her heat, swimming with 11-12-year-old swimmers. \u00a0We are extremely proud of this swim taken into consideration that it is a first. \u00a0Long relaxed strokes which makes one think there is still petrol in the tank at the end.<\/p>\n<p>The other factor to take into account is that swimming takes place after 18:00 pm which is a total out-of-routine activity for this 9-year-old.<\/p>\n<p>Monica&#8217;s comment after this event:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I love it. \u00a0Want to swim this definitely again!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"KZN Beavers 2016 Girls 12 &amp;U 400 m Freestyle Monica Botha (9) @5:38:56 Lane 9\" width=\"654\" height=\"368\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Nl2aOyqUVr4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Tough racing at KZN Beavers winter champs 2016<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_1227\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1227\" class=\"wp-image-1227 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.e-spectations.com\/swimming\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/6_closerace-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"KZN Beavers winter champs 2016 tough racing\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1227\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Racing against the 10-year-olds going onto 11 at the age of 9.
